Tennessee DOT Exam Locations

Tennessee has nearly 1.4 million commercial trailers licensed, the largest number of all the United States and ranks 7th of all states in total tonnage of freight transported in and through the state. This ranking can be credited to the number of busy interstates that traverse the state and the need to move freight between the north and south regions of the nation. Tennessee also boasts one of the largest populations of commercial drivers. Providing DOT exams and other medical services to the professional driving community is big business in the state for medical providers.  Trucking accidents have increased 13% from 2011 to 2014.  There were 3,408 crashes involving large trucks in Tennessee in 2014 and though that is a large number, the incidence when compared to the total ton-miles of freight is among the lowest in the country.  Even so there is growing concern about both the number and the seriousness of the trucking accidents occurring in Tennessee and other states around the country.
