    Diagnosed Wrong!!!

Brought my goddaughter here because her lips were so chapped, and it seemed as if nothing was working, my god daughter was irritated by the chapped lips so while being idle she started to peel at them. Long story short Jennifer Leimbach came in the room and looked at her lips and automatically assumed it was a cold sore (herpes). I'm no doctor, nor a PA like her, but I know cold sores are blisters and they leak, this was nothing my god daughter had experienced. Then Jennifer said it's common most kids who have herpes had gotten it from someone else. I'm sitting there dumb founded, because clearly her lips were just chapped. Jennifer also pulled out her phone to look up the word for the medication she was trying to prescribe to my god daughter. I did not get the prescription because I knew she was wrong. I know people are not perfect, but I feel that if you are in this profession at least know what you are talking about, if you do not know simply say that. I'd rather a PA or anybody tell me to get a second opinion, or they simply don't know than to misdiagnose me. She prescribed valacyclovir HCL, its used to treat infections, cold sores around the mouth caused by herpes simplex. I went the next day to her pediatrician, I said another doctor told me it was a cold sore. The Doctor did the same test as Jennifer and said there are no blisters, I don't see anything oozing out, she said this is clearly not a cold sore, wow I cant believe she told you that. It looks like just chapped skin, where she's also been peeling it off. She told me to get her some vaseline (which we had already been using) and some Carmex. I got carmex as soon as we left, the next day it was cleared up and her lips weren't chapped. Just imagine if I would've listened to Jennifer and had my baby taking that medication that she did not need. She clearly needs more training, before she misdiagnose someone else and it causes serious problems. And if you have to look up words on your phone in front of patients to make sure you are telling a parent right, and actually you're not. YOU DEFINITELY NEED MORE TRAINING!!!!! I will not go to this clinic ever again
